IEEE Blockchain Technical Community R8 Awards
Nominations are now open for the IEEE Blockchain Technical Community Region 8 Awards, including the *Group Award*, *Academic Excellence Award*, *Technical Merits Award*, and *Student Excellence/Achievement Award*. These recognitions honour outstanding contributions within the IEEE Blockchain community across Region 8.
- IEEE Blockchain Technical Community Region 8 Group Award
This award recognizes a IEEE Blockchain group within Region 8 that has made significant contributions to the advancement and promotion of blockchain technology. The award honours collaborative efforts that have had a measurable impact on research, education, or practical applications. It aims to encourage teamwork and collective innovation in the blockchain space.
- IEEE Blockchain Technical Community Academic Excellence Award
This award celebrates an IEEE individual in Region 8 who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in the field of blockchain technology. It acknowledges impactful research publications, thought leadership, and teaching excellence at the university level. The recipient should have made notable contributions to academic development and the dissemination of blockchain knowledge.
- IEEE Blockchain Technical Community Region 8 Technical Merits Award
This award is given to a R8 IEEE member, IEEE standardisation or working group (with members mostly from Region 8; other then Blockchain groups) or R8 organisation for significant technical contributions to blockchain technology. It highlights achievements in design, development, and innovation that have advanced the state of the art. The award seeks to recognize groups, organizations, engineers or scientists whose work has led to tangible improvements in the field.
- IEEE Blockchain Technical Community Region 8 Student Excellence Award
This award honors an IEEE student member in Region 8 who has shown exceptional promise and achievement in blockchain-related studies or projects. It is intended to encourage young innovators and recognize academic success, research involvement, or contributions to blockchain events and community activities. The recipient should embody the future of blockchain excellence.
Nominations: All nominations must be submitted by an IEEE member and sent to R8 Secretary Bianca Ebrasu at bianca.ebrasu@gmail.com. Nominations should include a text explaining the contributions of the recipient (150-200 word text) and contact details of the award recipient.

Note: Recipients of the awards will be sent to IEEE Blockchain Community Global level to be considered for global awards.
